據本報所得資料,校方建議增加宿費兩成以累積維修儲備,以滿足大學教育資助委員會(教資會)的指引。
去年十一月舍堂委員會會議上,財務及企業部指按教資會所提出的指引,教資會資源與非教資會資源應分開處理,因此一直由大學資助用作舍堂維修及更新的開支亦應自資處理。高級管理層原則上已同意以上安排。
財務及企業處推算,為建立更新及週期性維修的儲備,宿費需每日增加約8至10元。另外,宿費亦需再增加百分之四(約2元)以彌補通脹及工資增長,往後每年亦主要按此兩項數據調整。管理層就此邀請舍堂委員會及學生事務委員會考慮。副校長(行政)亦會成立小組就未來宿費事務提出意見。
按現時舍堂宿費50元一日計算(聖約翰學院及利瑪竇宿舍除外),財務及企業部提出所需之增幅高達百分之二十至百分之二十四,每學年宿費將由13900元增至16680元至17238元,與龍華街住宿學院雙人房一年18070元的差距大幅收窄。
去屆學生會會長黃程鋒接受本報查詢時,表示會議上確有討論加價一事,事後亦有邀請當時各舍堂學生會主席商討,惟最終未有成事。
